A Consciousness Exercise for Kindness

This Tool for Wellness is another extension of the "morning ritual." Upon completion of your morning meditation, take your self-work a step further by trying this consciousness exercise. Talking directly to your consciousness while in a relaxed state can be very effective for maintaining kindness toward yourself and others throughout the entire day.

  • First, use your morning ritual to get out of your head and into your heart space. Become grounded, quiet and still.

  • From this state, prepare to give your consciousness clear instructions. This should be done without force; a gentle yet meaningful directive.

  • Use your thoughts to instruct your consciousness to remain in your heart space throughout the day. The reason for doing this is because an innate part of your heart space is kindness.

  • Remind your consciousness that you have the ability to make choices throughout the day and that you can choose to pursue the perspective and wisdom that your heart space has to offer.

  • Say to your consciousness "I am going to live and make decisions more and more from my heart space."

  • As you move through the rest of your day, revisit these instructions as need be.
